| Locus Publishing
was established in 1996 by Rex
How and we have maintained the spirit
of our motto |
| “future, adventure,
culture” over the past ten years in the cultivation
of our publishing business. |
| According
to Eslite Bookstore (one of Taiwan’s most
important channels for book sales), |
| Locus Publishing
is among the top ten publishers in Taiwan. |
| During the
past ten years, we have made
three achievements: |
| |
| 1.
The translation of influential foreign
writers and books. |
| No matter
whether these books were fiction or non-fiction,
they have all been popular and highly acclaimed: |
| “Only
the Paranoid Survive” by Andy S. Grove,
“Direct from Dell” by Michael
Dell, |
| “Jack:
Straight from the Gut” by Jack
Welch , “Freakonomics” by Steven
D. Levitt, |
| “Tuesdays
with Morrie” and “The Five
People You Meet in Heaven”
by Mitch Albom’s , |
| “White
Teeth” by Zadie Smith, “Beautiful
Losers” by Leonard Cohen, |
| “The
Autobiography of My Mother” by Jamaica
Kincaid, “The Enigma of Arrival”
by V. S. Naipaul, |
| “When
We Were Orphans” by Kazuo Ishiguro, |
| “The
Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time”
by Mark Haddon, and so on. |
| |
| 2.
The launching and introduction of promising
Chinese writers. |
| Regarding
Chinese writers, we have introduced many
new writers and artists, including the renowned |
| graphic artist
JIMMY LIAO. JIMMY LIAO has not only been
a phenomenon in Chinese publishing but he
has |
| also been
translated into more than ten languages.
This year, American publisher Little Brown
published his |
| book “Sound
of Colors” and it was quite successful. |
| |
| 3.
The development of many imprints and affiliates. |
| Locus Publishing
remains at the center of our activities,
while many imprints and branch companies
have |
| been developed
from it, such as Net and Books, and Dala. |
| |
| 4.
The cooperation with Mainland Chinese publishing
companies |
| And in China,
in addition to an office in Beijing, Locus
Publishing has a wide cooperation with the
important |
| publishing
companies in China, including the publisher
of JIMMY LIAO and many other of our writers. |
